So, what WAS I thinking?

Well, I was thinking she was really cute, and it is the girls' birthday, after all, and they're always badgering me about getting another pet, and . . .

I dunno. I'm a sucker, I guess.

She doesn't have a name yet, but there's been much discussion already. We'll have to decide sometime. She's a dacshund/rat terrier mix, and she has hazel green eyes.

The kids are in love with her. They're fighting over who gets to hold her next. I don't think she knows what our floor looks like yet.

I know, I'm a wimp. But it is "the zoo" here, isn't it? What's one more? I keep telling myself that, anyway.

Tagged

Okay, I'll bite. Erica tagged me . . .
8 interesting things about myself:

1. I absolutely love being a nurse to preggo women. It's just an extension of #2, I think . . .

2. I have a weird fascination with pregnancy, always have. I loved being pregnant, would do it again if I didn't have to pay for college for kid #5 (hee, hee). I get goosebumps when I watch Birth Story on TLC, and sometimes even get emotional watching people on TV give birth.

3. I'm a perfectionist, but one of those who wants things to be "just so," but unable to make it happen on a daily basis, to the point that I do nothing instead. It will drive me to an insane asylum at some point, I'm sure. I am my Grammy's granddaughter ;)

4. I hate doing dishes, would make a deal with the devil to never wash another dish. Lucky for me, my husband doesn't mind doing them.

5. I'm not afraid to cut my own hair. Or color it. Or highlight it. Mom says it's going to fall out someday . . .

6. I have dropped the ball, on more than one occasion, on the tooth fairy thing. My kids are becoming suspicious that I can always find the golden dollar somewhere in their bed. You'll do it, too.

7. My brush with fame was on a trip to L.A. with Grammy and Ed when I was in high school. Ed's brother, King, was friends with Bea Arthur (Maude, The Golden Girls), and she cooked dinner for us at her house, then we all went to some cabaret club with her. She made Chilean Sea Bass, didn't like to wear shoes, and had a dog named Jennifer.

8. I love to watch marching bands. I could watch the performance parts of the movie "Drumline" over and over. I only go to college football games to watch the halftime shows and hear the drum cadences. What? I was a drum major in school! It's in my blood!

Okay, there.

Elaine, Erin, are you out there? I'm tagging you - 8 interesting things about yourselves, please. You're it!

OMG

I don't ever really say that out loud, but I feel it's appropriate for today.

You know that cute background template I was using that had a Halloween theme? Well, it was a pain in the arse to get rid of. I started tonight at about 10 p.m., and it's now around 1 a.m. and I finally just figured out how to get the jack-o-lantern off my blog page. I'm really pretty stupid about this HTML stuff, I have no idea what I'm doing. And when I tell it to change the template, I expect it to CHANGE THE TEMPLATE, not leave some mysterious background there while changing the rest of the template . . .

Anyway, I'm not sure what I did to fix it, but it's fixed for now. I may not go back down that cutesy blog background road again - or at least, if I do, I'll pick something I want to stick with for a long, long time.

You gotta love the Raiders . . .

We do.

That was one heck of a football game. Crazy, wasn't it?
I need some Rolaids.
And a nap.
